「衣料ストアーサカシタ」は明治30年頃に創業し、100年以上続くお店。飯田町商店街の中心の交差点に位置している。元は「坂下雑貨店」として創業し、今の店主である坂下重雄さんで三代目になる。お店を継ぐ前には大阪の衣料品関係の会社で働いていた重雄さんは、珠洲へもどると同時にお店のイメージを変えるため改名した。内装や看板も一新し、美術大学の卒業生であった親戚に文字を作ってもらったそうだ。「当時は岐阜や大阪、東京まで、夜汽車に乗って泊まりがけで仕入れに行った。体力的にキツいこともあったけど、とてもやりがいがある仕事だった。」と話す重雄さん。現在は定期的に訪れる常連のお客さんや、フラッと訪れる方もいる。「お客さんの世間話や相談ごとを聞きながらお店をやっていると、話したらスッキリした、また来るよ、と言ってくれるお客さんもいる。ひとつの社交の場みたいな感じでね。何かひとつほしいなって、ふっと思った時に来ていただければ。」体が動く限り続けるつもりだそうだ。
“Clothing Store Sakashita” was founded around 1897 and has been in business for over 100 years. It is located at the intersection in the center of the Iida-machi shopping district. Originally founded as “Sakashita general store,” the current owner, Shigeo Sakashita, is the third generation. Before taking over the shop, Shigeo worked for a clothing company in Osaka, but upon returning to Suzu, he changed the name of the store to change its image. He changed the interior and signage and asked a relative who was a graduate of an art university to create the sign for his shop. “In those days, I would take night trains to Gifu, Osaka, and Tokyo to stock up. It was physically demanding at times, but it was very rewarding work,” he said. Today, there are regular customers who visit the store regularly, as well as those who come by on a whim. “Some customers tell me that they feel refreshed after talking with me and that they will come back again. It is such a place for socializing something like. I hope people will come here when they feel like they need a little something.” He says he plans to keep doing this as long as he is physically able.
